I don't know where Peppershaker came from, just popped in my head. It looks like a pretty informative board and a lot of people are on natural supplements, although they cost a lot sometimes you don't need a doc to give you a scrip for them and they say they work.
I haven't tried any but I'm seriously thinking about it. My doc made a comment about the xanax being a crutch and he wanted me to go into the research side of that doctor's office there and go into that fibro research they've got going and wanted me to come off all my meds.
That was when I realized he does not understand how much pain fibro is. He thinks I can languish in the pain as they experiment on me in pain. Nu uh. I'm considering switching docs. I don't mind taking myself off of them and experimenting myself but any doc that calls meds for fibro a crutch does not understand how much pain I'm in. He isn't my original doc so I didn't pick him anyway to begin with. Your rash may be psoriasis, I started getting it in several spots. I'm betting that's what it is. Mine also burns and itches and all the natural ways they've said, and I've tried have not worked. Some of the meds do but they won't give them to you long term as they are steriodal, most of them anyway. I'm still painting away. I'll send you one I did of my dentist's little boy. I'm painting my kitchen right now and it turned into a heck of a job,, I had to take off the wallpaper and now I have to get the glue all off and fill nail holes and everything. I'm working slowly though so it'll take forever. Love you too.. Cheryl-----
Peppershaker? Interesting, vedy interesting. How did you come up with that name?
I am miserable today. My upper lip is sore inside and out. It burns & itches . My right arm on the underside is one massive red rash and every time I do dishes it gets worse. Since I have stayed home to care for Mom, I have no medical insurance, so the message boards will help lots. I figure a lot of it is caused by stress.
How is your painting coming along? Bad bad me still have those frames I need to bring you.
I started different blogs on blogger.com. My younger cousin, Tara, I don't know if you remember her or not, she visited with us when Allyson was almost 3, anyway she has one and I got interested and I have lost so many pictures and stuff on here that I figure I just do the blogs too. House here is so small no room to store anything and I feel boxed in.
As they say, nothing is forever, so I keep "organizing" and try to get rid of stuff. I just don't, well whatever the thought, Kasey just interrupted me and I forgot. Brain fog I guess or I've got Sometimes instead of Alzheimer's.
Love you much, Cathy

Thursday, we are bringing home an Old English Sheepdog Puppy. Right now, her name is Blossom, but I will call her Kelly Blossom! She is adorable. See her picture attached. We are sooooo happy. She was born 5.4.08 and is going on 8 weeks old. I have visited them several times, they live in Burleson, 20 mins away. They are all family pets, and the owner is not a breeder. Her two parents are there along with a third dog, a female who is pregnant too. They are coooooool dogs. She is from a litter of 8 and are they ever adorable. Take care and chat with you later! Love Cath

The picture I copied from Becca's blogspot It's interesting the shades it has put on faces.
We took Aunt Gladys to Arkansas for Aunt Ruby's 90th birthday. Ruby recognized Allie and Gladys right off the bat and I'm pretty sure she knew who I was but she had a little difficulty with Carolyn because she hadn't seen her in so many years.
Here are some of the blogspot addresses:

I want to add here some news:
Our cousin Raney needs prayers. Please pray for him daily He is battling cancer. Jean, his wife, and Raney's sisters need our prayers too. We love them and praise God for them in our family.
Second news from Gary, his son Warner and wife Christi , (please correct my spelling on names) who now live in Memphis, are heading for San Francisco. When I spoke in the blog about families being sent out in the world to be a light unto the world for Jesus, we don't need to be missionaries. We just need to be that light that others will recognize is special and from the Holy Spirit in the way we live and represent Our love and faith in Christ Jesus. That alone will draw others to ask what is special in our lives giving us the opportunity to testify of our love for God and what He has done for us!
Much love to you all. Have a wonderful day and remember I love you though we are apart.
Oh before I forget, our last family reunion was in 1966 at Aunt Ruth's in Wynne.
Perhaps we can think of doing that again. Anyone interested??? Let me know.
Love, until later, Cathy

Hey you,,,
hope you're doing okay. Did the girls tell you I was talking to them a while back at denise's house? They said you're taking care of your mom and a little stir crazy.
Jamie mentioned the house next door being for sale but non of us really knew much about it and the sale sign was only there I think a week or so. The guy who was the owner was a young guy named Andy and he'd been awol for ever, we saw a flurry of people coming to work on it and stuff and assumed Andy was in the process of getting ready to sell it but he, as far as we know is up in Geauga somewhere so we couldn't ask him.
All of a sudden there's a sign on the lawn about some sales place selling it that looked like the house had gone into foreclosure and Andy wasn't selling it but whatever bank who had it. Then, I'm pretty sure within a week or so,, no sign. Then shortly after that more fixing up and a guy moved in who is a foster parent. 62yrs old. There are I think 5 kids over there at the moment but I've seen it go up to 7 or so since he moved in. His name's Roger (nice guy, may be available He said it's like $25 per day that they get for each kid,, sheesh that could add up fast. Anyway the girls asked if we ever see the landlord on the other side to know if your old house is ever up for sale... I said no, that guy's hardly ever around. The people there now keep taking in the little strays that are around,, one had babies and they're kind of trying to keep it hush hush because only one of their cats should be there according to the landlord. Anyway one's a Sylvester looking female that is adorable and the others look like tabby mixes if you know anyone who'd like a kitty. I'm hoping something on THIS block comes up for sale if you guys are looking or over by Lori but within close walking distance to me,,, if you guys are looking. I miss everybody and my girls. I still keep their pictures around, usually on the front of my fridge. Denise was always my girl. She always had my heart as really all of them did. Jamie too,, it's impossible not to love her. Anyway I hope you haven't lost your mind being home all day.
Love you,, give my love to everybody..
Cheryl

Hi,
I just got this email from Janie. It is so sad, I just can't believe this is happening. I know we all have to go sometime and we never know when, and I know God is still in control and He can still choose to heal him completely. But, if it is his time to go, his work is done here, then I know he will be going to Heaven with Jesus and Mother, Daddy, Lora, Sid, and my little baby brother Don, along with all other family members and friends who knew Jesus as their personal Savior. And he WILL be healed then completely and forever, with no more pain and suffering.I blocked out the date that the doctors told Jean because I don't want to accidentally put it in and it get back to Raney. He has enough stress now. Like Janie said in her email, the doctors don't know WHEN anyway, only God knows that.
Love you all,
Ginger
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They were able to put in new stints in Raney yesterday(Tuesday). The doctor came out and talked with Jean. He said Raney can not be cured so they were just going to try to make him as comfortable as possible. The doctor told her that Raney might make it until -------. She has not told Raney that. He knows that he is going to die but he does not need to put a date on it. I told her that the doctor does not know the date either and that we would have to live each day to the fullest. The Lord knows the day, not any one else. She agreed.
He is eating good. He ask for some old-time candy bar, (plank, a flat peanut & caramel). Jean had been to Wal-Mart to see if she could find it. She couldn't but she got him a sack full of Paydays.
She said that they pinched a place on his lip yesterday do the procedure. His lip is swollen. She kept putting chap stick in and around his nose and got it cleaned out from the oxygen he is using. She said he looked so pitiful with the fat lip and the dirty nose, but he was still "the sweetest thing"!
The doctor said that he may get to come home the end of the week if they canget his blood work regulated.
Keep praying!
Love you all!!!
Peggy sent an additional request this morning: "Please pray that thekids can find a house at West Point or nearby. Last night they got acall that a 4 bedroom was available (need 5) with no air (it was 90degrees in NY yesterday) and with lead based paint. Tenants sign awaiver that if a child gets sick (lead) you will not sue the Army. To goelsewhere may be more expensive. Anyway, I have faith they will findsomething but I needed our warriors to pray! I think this is a good way for the kids to see the power of Him and the power of prayer. I all but assured them that we will pray today and it will happen :)
"Father, thank You for the many ways You care for us. I will be eternally grateful for the faithful prayer warriors You have called to be a part of this important intercessory ministry. We stand together in faith today, believing that You were aware of this housing need long before Tim was called to this new assignment. Direct them to the home You have prepared, a home where they will be safe and comfortable for whatever time they are there. May Your divine plan be fulfilled and may all praise and thanksgiving be lifted up to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, for He is faithful that promised." Hebrews 10:23
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,By the living Word of God I shall prevail,Standing on the promises of God.Standing on the promises I cannot fall,Listening every moment to the Spirit’s callResting in my Savior as my all in all,Standing on the promises of God.(19th Century hymn)
Peggy Cogar has requested prayer for her son Tim as he takes his final exams today to complete his Master's at UF. Tim, his wife Kim and their 4 children will be leaving Sunday to move to West Point where he will be teaching for several years. Tim has served in the Army for a number of years and was happy to be stationed in Florida near his family for the past three years.
Lord, You are the Shepherd of our souls and we are awed by the reality of who You are. You are seated at the right hand of the Father, yet You desire to spend Your time with Your children. We join our hearts and prayers as we intercede on behalf of Tim and his family today. We pray Your blessing upon him as he completes his final exams, and as he moves his family to his next station in New York. You have guided every step of his journey and we trust the plan You have ordained for him. Cover them with Your grace as they travel and as they settle into their new home and new routine. Bless them and keep them, in Your precious love. Amen
May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.May you be confident, knowing you are a child of God. Let His presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.~ Prayer of St. Theresa ~
I just received a call from Janie. Jean had called her. I guess Raney had a chemo treatment today. When they got up this morning, I think Janie said one of Raney's arms was about twice the size of the other. The doctor seemed to think it was a blood clot. The way it sounds right now, the doctor will suggest going off the chemo. He is in the hospital right now for tests and he has been given something for anxiety. He is in Mountain Home Hospital, room 503 for right now, but probably won't be in that room very long because it is a holding room while they are doing tests. My information might not be quite right because I was sleeping when Janie called and this was such a shock because he had been doing so well. Janie did say though that Jean said he had been eating 3 meals a day, but was losing alot of weight. Janie wasn't sure if she meant from the time he found out about the cancer or if he has lost alot since we saw him over Memorial Weekend. This doesn't sound good, but God can still heal even when circumstances don't look good to us. So, please pray for both Raney and Jean.
Cate,
Only someone who has experienced Alzheimer's can understand what its like being a caregiver
and I know also, God will see us through. I guess my concern, is that I am able to care for Bill! I
don't have anyone to help, he really doesn't want someone to stay, he says he doesn't need a
babysitter. The computer helps for a little break, while he is napping.
I am so glad you are going on the trip and that your sister can accompany you! It should be good
for all of you! I received your e-mail when her husband died and did send her a card, I know she went through quite an experience, also.
I will pray for your safety constantly while you are gone! Have a trip with many good memories. They
can be so wonderful to recall!
With much Love and gratitude that God brought you into Dale's life and mine!!
Dear Marilyn, Our lives are so similiar. Mom gets worse remembering and walking is getting bad. I am afraid to leave her alone in the car. So I depend on Jaime to get groceries and what not. Sometimes I think there is no "out there", but I remember that God called me to this and He will get me through this. The only church people I see is De Stanley on tv and Dale's mormon church are still trying to recruit me. I do enjoy studying with them and learning what Dale believed but in my heart I belong to Jesus and I don't really care who holds the earthly keys and what not, that stuff is just confusing and Jesus here on earth was not confusing. Following Him and loving others to me is the most important.
Mother has been in a more pleasant dispostion than when this first started. It's hard to believe it's been 16 months since I have been home with her. Kasey has gone through the 1st year of Kindergarten. School will be out this Wednesday.
I am taking Mom home to Tennessee next Sunday. We are going to be gone 12 days. My sister is able to go this year too. Did I tell you her husband died in April? He was 56. The stress of everything has me exhausted as not only her grief but I relived with her all the ways I felt when Dale died.
Mom sister is going to be 90 and has the alzheimers too. I am hoping she will recognize Mom. It would be nice if we could set up a place in the nursing home to have cake and ice cream with her. I don't like this growing older business, nope I sure don't.
I hope your asthma is getting better. So very difficult for you to do all you have to do and not be able to breathe well. Do you have anyone who comes in to help you care for Bill?
Marilyn I keep you both in prayer. You are very dear and precious to me and I wish I could give you a huge hug. Remember to take some time for yourself. I know it is hard to do. When Mom naps I try and take one too and I don't worry about the house so much.
I'm off to bed, hope you have a good nights rest and peace on your pillow. Much love, xxooo. Cate
Thanks for the update. I want to send her something for school and for her upcoming surgery. I'll mail it to your house so she can see it whenever you get back. I am really proud of her and will let her know! I don't doubt you are tired from all you do between your mom, and the kids. I would encourage you to ask your primary care to put you on something for your anxiety. It could be situational depression too. We see a lot of that here and there are many good drugs. Many have little or no side effects too. Let me know if they put you on something and if it is too pricey. There is a website that offers FREE meds to you via the pharmacy that makes them. Its good to know for all people. its www.needymeds.com You click onto it and go to the Brand name then the alpha letter. Let me know if you need help. We give a lot of those types of meds here with very good results. Good luck and I will keep you in my prayers. Have a safe trip too. Cate,
I had to tell you I really received this e-mail at the right time!
I read it Friday evening as I was turning the computer off. I
was feeling pretty bad, the pollen etc. has been affecting me.
I still have to take care of practically everything even if I'm not feeling
well. After reading your e-mail I knew it was going to get better!
Saturday wasn't great, but I am feeling much better, today, still coughing
but with asthma, I have that.
Bill fell in the kitchen a few days ago, and wasn't hurt, again but I have to
stay close and watch him. I had just steped into the utility room a few feet
away and don't know what happened, he didn't either. He has bursitis on
his elbow and a big knot. Its really been hurting him, I think the doctor is
going to try to drain it Thursday and give him a cortiosine shot. With his
constant back pain, he doesn't need more! He doesn't complain, just rem-
embers less and less, as I guess will be.
How is your mother doing, now? I think of you so often and think it would be
so great to just visit! Thank you for the e-mails! Church is about the only
place we go besides doctors and the grocery, where Bill waits in the car.
Take care, you are in my prayers! Love, Marilyn
The prayer: Father, I ask You to bless my friends, relatives and those that I care deeply for, who are reading this right now. Show them a new revelation of your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence through your grace. Where there is need, I ask you to fulfill their needs. Bless their homes, families, finances, their goings and their comings. In Jesus' precious name. Amen.
Dear Cate,I hope your are feeling better once again.My sister and her husband got out of the hospital today. He has been told to MOVE. He is very much a sitter, and I pray he will be of help to my sister.Funny we both lost the computer. I am making do with my nephews. It is slower, but it works.My heart goes out to your youngest daughter. Many worthless men, make wives feel so small. I have to believe in the long run, God has a plan for her life, and her children. This happens in all families, so she must not take in to heart and personal that she did something horrid. He is the flake. She is with honor, she stayed and loves. I am rather sure, another woman may be involved. These pigs need someone to adore them and care for them. God bless this little boy, he has removed from his security.This will reek problems for your health. I pray for you, as no one can humanly be a Grandma with love in her heart to give the hugs and comfort to hold them together. Prayers and love.Are you really well enough to try the trip you had planned for your Aunts 90th birthday?Take care of you, dear Cate. Love, Barbara
Cate, I love your comment that we have no need to worry for we can change nothing. Amen. Every circumstance is in God's hands and we have to trust that He always knows what is best. We will continue to hold Raney close to our hearts and in our prayers, and you too. I am so blessed that God "enlisted" you as one of our prayer warriors. Love and blessings to you today, in His love. >>> 5/29/2008 11:40 PM >>>Dear Linda, TY for the prayers and the prayer warriors. Below is an e-mail I received from my cousin on her brothers condition. I was relieved to hear the tumor was growing smaller. I claim it's due to everyone's prayers. I praise and thank God for every measure of blessing He bestows. My prayers are for your family and the prayers warriors. We have no need to worry, for we can change nothing. We do have Almighty Father and that's more secure and loved than when we were 3 and cuddled into our "Daddy's" when we fell asleep in the car and were carried into bed and tucked in!!! Shirley and I went to see Raney over the weekend. Of course, Janie is right there in Jonesboro, so we were all together. We had gotten some bad news when we got there concerning Raney, but he had a chemo treatment and was to see the doctor on Tuesday. We were going to go see him yesterday before leaving to come home, but he had to go for a cat scan at 9am, so he called on Tuesday evening to let us know. I was talking to him and started to hang up (I wouldn't get to see him again before leaving) and I told him "You know I love you" He said he loved me too, then I said I love you big, big. He repeated and broke down crying. It broke my heart, because at that point I didn't know if I'd be able to see him alive again with the price of gas and getting time off to go. Anyway, on the way home yesterday, Janie called and told me she had some news and that I needed to pull off the road. I did and she said Jean had called and said that the tumors in his liver were getting smaller and there was no change in the pancreas, but there also was no sign of it spreading. They will give him a 10 day rest, then start with chemo again. The chemo has been making him sick and he has been so weak. They are going to change the amount of chemo because they said maybe they were giving him too much due to his age, so hopefully he won't be getting so sick. Praise God!!! Thank you so much for your prayers.
Hi Cathy, thanks so much for these family pictures. They mean so much to me. I just wish we'd lived closer together all of these years so I would know my relatives as well as you do. I missed a lot. I'll try to find more pictures and e-mail you.
Becky and Cathy,
I am in such a mess! When Vinnie and Sue went to the Indy 500, I was here taking care of the pets, and so broke, I borrowed about $8 off the washing machine (you know, the loose money that you find in the pockets!) Well, Sue was really pissed about that, but didn't tell me, so yesterday, she finally tells me she's po'd about it (and I intended to pay her and Vinnie back!) She told Vinnie that I have to get out - she wants em to live at 1421 Elder. That house is a mess, though! She didn't even come home last night, I guess she spent it at a friend's. Cathy, I'm sorry I didn't get your message about the cookout! I thought I listened to my voicemail on my phone, I would have loved to have gone to your place or Denise's or whatever. I didn't do anything much all weekend! How am I gonna make this up to Susie? And she is so pissed at me, she's kind of taking it out on Vinnie too. Oh, gosh, maybe I should not have moved back to Akron.
Love, B.
Welcome to the 2007 edition of getting to know your friends. What you are supposed to do is copy (not forward) this entire e-mail and paste it onto a new e-mail that you'll send. Change all the answers so they apply to you, and then send this to a whole bunch of people including the person who sent it to you. Put your name in the subject line. The theory is that you will learn a lot of little things about your friends, if you did not know them already.
Malia is five months old and my cute little great grandbaby is rotten. She laughs and blows raspberries at ya and loves to hold on to a finger when you feed her. Her name means Mary in Hawaiian. Hope all are well.
Happy mother's day to you mom!! You may not be mine but I am sure glad that you have let me adopt you. I hope you have a day full of love. Give Mema kisses for me and tell her the same for me please.
I have tried to get a hold of Nene and I know she is going thru a rough time, I just want her to know that I love her and that Allen and I will help her and those precious babies anyway we can.
I am not gonna get in this besides just being there for them. Not saying what happened was not wrong by her and the kids but that is all I am gonna say and as far as I am gonna go. The whole thing with Chris and Donald has taught me that.
I love you mom.
Back at you my Baby. I loved all the different flowers. I love you oodles. Hope you have a happy mothers day tomorrow. Went to dinner with Chrissy last Sunday at the church. It was really nice. Mema is getting more forgetful than ever. Until later my little oldest girl!! Love, MOM
Well...another update. As you all should know I saw my doctors in March at Cleveland Clinic and there was another spot that showed up and at first they thought since it was in the Radiation Zone that it was just probably from radiation damage, just now showing up but they wanted to wait and talk with the other six hospitals that over see my case and get their opinions as well. (They all get sent a copy of my scans and reports electronically and sit down on a Thrusday and discuss it at length)
Allen and I were just notified this past week that they have decided to put me back at every 3 months for exams and not the 6 months like I was. There is a new spot right off the base tumor and with every scan it looks brighter and larger on the MRI. So, we are back on being more on alert so to speak. When I see them on July 22nd I will also be talking with them about seeing a doctor for starting chemo. When we should start, how much--all the usual stuff.
The children do not know yet so I would appreciate everyone letting Allen and I telling them in our way, when we have all the info. We all knew sooner or later this time would come. God has kept me this long and He has heard my prayers. I trust Him. I do not want anyone to curse God for this, He loves me. He has kept me for almost 12 years. I know of one man here in Barberton alone, who had the same tumor and died not even 7 months after diagnosis. I have been blessed. God is good. ---For those who do not understand how I can feel this way, it is because I am saved. Not that I want to die, not that I want to leave my husband and children. I have faught for 11 years and will continue to do so but no one knows their time and I will not curse my God for this. It is only by HIS Grace and Love that I am still here. I will never deny Him that praise.
Just continue to pray for Allen, I and the kids. I am not giving up. I am still working and going on with my life as God would want me too. When I loose my hair again many peopole at work are willing to loose theirs with me. That is the kind of support that means alot, not asking all of you to shave your heads of course. I will go into work BALD AND PROUD!!!!!
God bless ya all,
Naomi
Dear Tara and John,
Congratulations!! I know you have sent the picture to everyone, but I had to add the family history. I hope I didn't do wrong. Emmy is an absolutley beautiful baby girl.
Was she born in the am or pm ? I would love to see and hold her and be the photographer taking her very first professional portraits! How happy and blessed you both must feel until you actually start loosing your night sleep anyway, haha, I say that with utmost love knowing you are both going to be wonderful, loving, devoted parents. Was there a Razorback on that outfit anywhere? just wonderin'.
God bless you all and keep you happy and healthy and loved. xxxooo Love,Cathy
Cathy,
Thanks! These pictures will really help make Aunt Gladys' section of the show more interesting. I would even mention Uncle Mickey and how they met if I had a picture of the two of them together. Or a picture of him alone in uniform. I think you showed me a picture of them together once, and it had another couple in it with them.
I would love it if Aunt Gladys was closer to Mother and I do wish you'all could move down here to Wynne. It's just a problem wondering how in the heck you would earn a living in a small town like that. And I stay so very busy I wouldn't have much time to help you guys out or get over to Wynne to see you. I never dreamed that things would get so hectic and money would be so hard to earn, but it's true and happening to all my friends. We are all poorer and working harder than we did in the 80's or 90's.
Yes, it would be possible for Aunt Gladys to move into Wesley Highland Manor, and they would probably co-operate in putting them in the same room. It's not a great place to look at, but I must say that everybody who works on Mother's floor is kind and very good about treating the residents with respect and kindness.
It's hard to tell how well Mother would even understand that Gladys was with her again, but on some level I know it would mean a lot to both of them.
How is Kasey? Is she sick or still having health problems? I hope not. Tell everyone I said hello.
Gary
Thanks Cathy,
I'm going to use Aunt Gladys pictures and story near the front of the show. (We like it when we have female WWII interviews)
I'll mail you a DVD copy of the show when it's done.
PS-HOW DID YOU CAPTURE THOSE PICTURES TO E- MAIL THEM? I COULDN'T "SAVE AS" OR GET THEM OUT OF E-MAIL IN THE USUAL WAYS. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY WERE EMBEDDED INTO THE EMAIL RATHER THAN ATTACHED! NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE.
Cathy,
How are you? Do you think you'll be able to get any pictures of Gladys to me before or on May 8? I sure hope so, since I am showing clips of her interview to over 250 people. It would be great to have a picture of her as a young lady.
Let me know,
Gary
~~~~~~~
Their marriage was good, their dreams focused. Their best friends lived barely a wave away. I can see them now, Dad in trousers, work shirt and a hat; and Mom in a house dress, lawn mower in one hand, and dish-towel in the other. It was the time for fixing things: a curtain rod, the kitchen radio, screen door, the oven door, the hem in a dress. Things we keep.
It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy. All that re-fixing, re-heating leftovers, renewing; I wanted just once to be wasteful. Waste meant affluence. Throwing things away meant you knew there'd always be more.
But when my mother died, and I was standing in that clear morning light in the warmth of the hospital room, I was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more. Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away...never to return. So... While we have it, it's best we love it... And care for it... And fix it when it's broken... And heal it when it's sick.
This is true: For marriage... And old cars... And children with bad report cards. Dogs and cats with bad hips... And aging parents... And grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it. Some things we keep, like a best friend that moved away or a classmate we grew up with.
There are just some things that make life important,
like people we know who are special... And so, we keep them close!

Good morning!
Love the cat joke. I'm glad to see you still have your sense of humor after all you've been through lately. How's Aunt Gladys? And Kasey, her mother and the others?
I need a favor, and it's pretty important. Recall that I interviewed Aunt Gladys about her experiences during the War. We are building our big video for a showing on May 12, and I need pictures of Aunt Gladys.
I remember your showing me a shot of her with Uncle Mickey when they were both young, probably during the War. Do you also have a nice
shot of Gladys about the time she was working in that ammunition factory?
I'm telling her story and really need some early pictures do make it look good. Can you scan some pictures and send them to me? Or mail them to me? Or tell me some other way to get them soon?
Let me know, and God bless.
PS - Mother is doing OK, but her Alzheimer's gets worse by the month.

I loved your stories...and your kindness in the words you wrote to me. I am so pleased, I made them smile with my joke. God bless them. I sure understand your sister's loss, their son. Happy the small monies helped them.
I will answer when I can write more. Very interesting letter.
Your sweet grand baby! Lovely. Kasey, looks almost mature for her age.
Love to you. Thanks for prayers. Won't be at Sjogren's, you either, I assume? Love, Barbara

Thank you so much for the picture but most of all the words. You are the one that really understands "family" and Life!
You are a blessing in my life even though I don't really know you that well. Miles seem to keep a lot of us unknowing. Thank you again for sharing.
My prayers are with you all and please keep all of my family in your prayers.

Hi Everyone. It's that time of year again. Spring pictures arrived from school today. They were taken on April 2. This is our Kasey as her Kindergarten year comes to a downhill drag.
She is 6 1/2 years old. She has an October birthday. By all her grade cards she will be passing to the 1st grade next year. Wish I got new pictures of all the other grandchildren, but none yet!
The weather is starting to warm slightly. My daffodils bloomed yesterday. My sister, Carolyn's husband Lester passed away April 8th. He was 56 years old. He had been in and out of the hospital since February 14th. It was sudden and he died within 10 minutes from the onset of symptoms. He was undergoing kidney dialysis. The nurses came in to prep him and when he sat up he had difficulty breathing. It is common for kidney patients to be affected with sudden heart failure. It was so sad. He was doing better the night before struggling to fight off a c-diff virus. He was stronger and talking with my sister. She didn't leave until after the 11:00 pm newscast. Carolyn is holding on strong with her faith in God. She is lost as what to do next, but this morning she and her son David were putting one foot in front of the other and heading out the door to take care of business.
She is very thankful for all the prayers and well wishes for Lester (we all call him Lee, their last name) The many cards, gifts and funny notes brought smiles to their faces. Some ,like mine and my friend Barbs, "funnies" didn't arrive until after Lee passed away, but they were glad to have the smiles the funnies left in their grief. It was welcome respite. Barb, an aside to you dear, Gladys is our mothers name and it just so happens that she attended school while living with her sister in Kentucky. My sister said she had to look at the envelope twice to see if I had sent it. Ha ha! It tickled them very much and it was a blessing. I can't wait to see it. I gathered all our condolences here on the computer and took them to Carolyn. Her home is computer-free. Everyone's love and sympathy comforted her. There is a guest book on-line at Ohio.com if anyone would like to leave a message. Our home paper is the Akron Beacon Journal and Lee's obituary was in there on April 10th if I'm not mistaken.
Mema Gladys is taking this awfully hard. We lost Dad, Dec.23,1998, Allyson, May 26, 1999, then my Dale on Feb. 20, 2004, 2 nieces that were younger than Mom and now Lee. She is wanting to leave this world and feels it is her time to go. (87 w/alzheimers) She wonders why God would take those younger than her who still had so much life they wanted to live. She wants to be with Dad. She said she has lived a full life. She's ready to go. As she puts it," I'm ready to go bye-bye."
Heavenly Father knows when our work is finished here.
I would like to say to everyone, do something for someone you love today that is special. Pick a flower and surprise them. Send a card with a hug (x) & kiss (o). To live is to love
To love is to share
To share is to give
And to give is to care!
Honor someone you love. Share your stories and your memories. We need to be more story tellers so our families remember. My favorite times growing up were sitting around my various aunts kitchen tables and listening to their stories of different relatives over coffee and buttered biscuits and homemade jelly a lot of the time.
I've really gone on, but I love ALL YA'LL, You matter to me!
Hugs, love and kisses,
Cathy

Dear Cate,
Blessings to you today. My sister Judy has suffered most, for Mom's passing. Her birthday, and in May, her first anniversary of going to heaven. I see it as you do, thank God, she is honored and with HIM.
How lovely you made your warm rocker in the warm summer sound. I could just picture this. Have you considered a ramp for your Mom, over the steps, or to the side? Can your Mom use a walker and does she exercise her legs with those large rubber bands?
I am so glad you wrote me about your update from your fall. My sister is bothered so much from the Fibromyalga as you! From what you write to me, I think you and my sister Judy suffers much more than I. She has so much joint pain and swelling. It kills me to see her suffer. If your stern talk to yourself helps, I will get you and my sis together, so you can tough talk to her!
I do not need the larger than normal type, thanks. My eye is just about normal again. I am neglecting it some, so you know I am better.
When the sun is out, and no wind, I am inclined to want to leave the coat behind. I know from experience, this is not wise.
I have a small dishwasher. I do them about once a week. I clean them, stack in washer, then run. Only one person doesn't dirty much.
Our Mother repeated things over and again. Also...this is so cute and funny, she would ask my sister, after breakfast...honey...is there anything to eat in this house, I am starving!
How did the appointments go for you and your Mom? Did April 1st help you any? You were speaking of watching your grandchildren, and you were tired and cranky the next few days. This is how I am when I have the company for a few days. I almost feel so tired, I am angry. Just talking all that time, and cooking. I am alone, and I am the worse for it, I fear. I have gotten used to my quiet and order. Small things...I notice. Things out of place, that sort of thing. Not a nice quality in myself, but age comes with mind set. Ha.
I normally get flowers for myself every week or two for my bedroom. I truly love flowers indoors. I don't go outside much, and I don't have the energy to water them. This last summer, I had someone plant for me, then it was so dry, I was out watering. It grew thin. Not planting any flowers this year, just freshen up the mulch.
God bless and touch you today with His love and comfort for your body.
Love, Barbara

Cate,
So nice to hear from you! Bill is doing better than I expected and the therapists, also.
I really think the different surroundings must have been part of it! He is getting physical
therapy in home twice a week and we are doing the exercises on days they don't come.
Could your mother have home health therapy, it might strengthen her? Bill was pretty
much dropping in his seat before and I didn't think it was good for his back. Now he is
reaching down with hands to find seat and going down much better. He is going to
need to continue to use walker although he wants to go back to cane. His balance just
isn't very good .
They were going to use heat therapy on his shoulders in hospital but said they can't
because its too intense for cardiac patients. His right one still hurts and we have to watch
that he doesn't reach up or do things to aggravate it!
We are having lovely sunshine, today and its so nice after a couple of gloomy days! The
Reds are now playing baseball and Bill enjoys that and the idea of getting outside, soon.
He can sit out back in the swing and listen to the radio on nice days. I'm getting anxious,
also even if it does mean lawn work!
You take care!! Love you much! Marilyn and Bill

Dear Marilyn & Bill,
What an end to winter we are having health wise! You poor dear, I know how tiring it is to be going back and forth from the hospital and keeping up at home. The travel just wears you out.. the desire to be with the ones we love is much stronger though. I'm glad to hear Bill is home and recouperated to come home. How about his rotater cuffs though.? Are they healed or does he need to go in for thearpy for them? Years ago I was in an auto accident and for 6 weeks they gave me these deep heat ultrasound massages. They felt soooo good. It's great to be back home and settled in though isn't it?
You all have all been on my mind too and in my prayers. Especially over Easter. Mother was very touched that you sent her a card. It was special for her. She keeps saying she wants to write you a thank you note, but she can't actually put her self down to it. She has been mixing me up with her niece, Muriel. Not so sure I feel good about it as Muriel is 80 years old. haha
Shes is tired alot . Sits mostly in her recliner and is having difficulty walking. The last few days she has just been falling into her chair. I'm afraid she will break a bone like that , but she says she can't help it her legs are just to weak.
I agree with you on the familiarity of places for Bill. Mom too. If I take her out of the house for the day she thinks she has moved. It sets her back.
I believe in the power of prayer too Marilyn. Hey, anytime you are free to talk my phone minutes are free from 7 pm on and week-ends are free.
I love hearing from you. I will continue to pray for you and Bill. Mom has talked all the way through me trying to type this so I apoligize I can't concentrate.
Love you much, Cate

PLEASE READ AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK - HAVE NOT SENT THIS YET!
TO: Human Resource/Payroll Dept.
Beall’s Department stores
Reasons I quit Beall’s
1) I did not have a place to live, having searched in vain for someplace that I could afford. Because I needed a new apartment, and almost everywhere I looked was around $600 per month, plus they wanted first, last and security, the amount needed was around $1800, plus utilities deposit and for me, with two cats, pet deposit of around $200. I was looking at somewhere between $2,000 and 2500. At the same time, my transmission on my car was going out, and that was going to be around $1500. The car was no longer drivable. I would have had no way to get to work.
2) After Christmas, I was not getting any hours at Beall’s, despite the fact I was full time, being given only 21 -27 hours a week. Definitely not enough to live on. People with less seniority were given 35-40.
3) I have major medical problems, and since I wasn’t making any money (no hours) I could not afford my prescriptions, even with medical insurance.
4) At the time I quit, I told the store manager that I could not handle the new hours, that is, work until eleven, then come in the next morning at eight. That IS the straw that broke the camel’s back, for me at least. The first time I had to do this (Actually, the first time ANYONE had to do this, was ME, the very first day the new hours went into effect) I almost fell asleep at the wheel of my car. I was only able to get about six hours of sleep and I really need eight.
5) I was treated with very little respect at Beall’s. When I had to go to the bathroom, a certain manager often came looking for me! I was only gone for five or so minutes. He would even page me, knowing I had gone to the restroom. I did not abuse the privilege of using the restroom. It was embarrassing to be treated that way. I never left my area unattended, I would ask one of the other associates to watch my register for five minutes.
6) Again, the lack of respect. I had an assistant manager yell at me that “You better get those shoes put away because Ethel (not her real name) is in shoes and she doesn’t know where anything goes. “ A customer sitting there heard this and made a whip cracking sound and remarked to me, “Crack that whip.” I tried to laugh it off and said, “Oh yeah, crack that whip” but I was HUMILIATED!
7) If our lunch hour was from 5-6, say, but we were there till eleven, we should have gotten a 15-minute break. Sometimes my lunch was 4-5 and I was there till eleven – that’s six hours- without a 15-minute break. I couldn’t even take a five-minute bathroom break without being criticized!
8) As I said earlier, my health is not very good. I am a two-time cancer survivor!With all my problems – no place to live, car dying, no money for bills and medicines I need, I felt like I was having a nervous breakdown. I called my brother in Akron and he said I could stay for awhile to get my life back in order. I called my brother in Jacksonville and he helped me to get a U-Haul and pack it up. It was all arranged in about three days. It was $1000 for the U-haul and $500 for the gas and hotel to get to Ohio. That is still far less than the $3500 I would have needed for a new apartment and to get my car repaired (if even possible.)
Now you are telling me I cannot get paid for my 60 hours of vacation time! Please be assured I will see a lawyer if necessary to address this matter.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Novak

March 30, 2008 Barberton, OH
Mom you are preaching to the choir. I am just glad that finally he was busted with Chrissy for the lier that he is. Jen told Chris last night that he HATES me. oh well, I guess he does but one thing remains; that is my sister in every sense of the word. I love her and will not stand by and watch him or anyone else continue to hurt her and those kids the way he has. I just wish those kids were not hurting. I wish he cared. I wish he loved them that much. His lies were busted and now that Chris has finally talked to her, and Chris knows that some was crap, hopefully she can start to move on. She had every right to go to where she needed to go to get answers, because he was not giving her anything but more lies.
Any boy can be a father (biologically) but it takes a real man to be a "DADDY".
I have lost respect for him in so many levels. I can not blame Chris for loving him and wanting to believe that what she thought was going on was not real. But she has to know that she deserves better. My heart breaks for her and the kids. She took care of those kids, him and her dying grandfather while he was out spending money they did not have, drinking and sleeping around. No matter how you dress it up, he sinned against God and everything he claimed to believe in. He is an example to Mitch. That is scary.
He told Chrissy that he hates Allen and I because Mitch comes to us to talk to. He is jealous. I would not have to fill his shoes or be there if he was.
Dear Naomi,
You can send this on to the other woman (and women) for me if you like.
I have always learned: What a painful web we weave when at first we practice to deceive.
What has been wronged has been wronged, there is no changing it.
I know that when Chrissy married Donny it was after years of him begging her to. Once he got her married, the chase, the thrill was gone. He changed his life-style from smoking marijuana, motor-cycle riding, smoking even cigarettes and got a job to win Chrissy. Her father and grandparents gave him a roof over his head when he had no place to live. She worked and paid for him to get through pipe-fitters school. He got the job through his brother. He put the effort forward to win Chrissy, once they married, she worked part-time and kept them out of debt, even at his pipe-fitters salary. Donny was a spend thrift. He bought season tickets for football games, and out with his buddies, leaving Chrissy to shoulder the burden of the children and managing the home.
But through it all one thing remained clear. They loved each other. When Chrissy married, she married for life. Was she over Donny when she got the divorce? NO. But what was she to do? Donny and his "other women", his drinking and partying, his lying, all caught up with him. Through it all she was willing to forgive him and go to counseling and work through it. When Chrissy loves, she loves with her whole heart, not that the other women cared. If Donny chose to lie to his wife and throw his marriage away and spend money and time on them, well that's her problem. What did they care if Donny gave her aids or any other sexually transmitted disease, what did they care if she was trying to make ends meet and pay the bills on time, what did they care if there wasn't enough money at home to put food on the table for the family? And did they care at all about the covenant made between Donny, Chrissy and God before their entire families in church?! No. Not as long as they were self satisfied to ride on Donny's lying coat tails.
I have seen Chrissy cover for Donny when the kids couldn't get ahold of him when he had promised to call and didn't, or didn't show up for one of their functions. I have seen Chrissy and Mitchell hold Shayna as she cried and wondered where her Daddy was and why didn't he love them anymore.
I have seen Chrissy smash prized antique possessions of her grandmothers to show Donny they didn't mean anything to her when he threatened to break them himself to get her angry. What mattered to her was her husband and children.
No one has to judge anyone here. God will be that judge. His day of reckoning will come because none of us can escape it. We must answer to him and there is no lying before the Lord and Master.
Donny has been my son, since he was 19 years old and took my daughters heart. He promised me he would love her as I love her and look after her. What's one more promise to break? I championed for him to marry Chrissy believing he had changed and was maturing especially after the birth of their son Mitchell. Now I see that I was fooled too. I even told him this past Christmas that he was still my son. If Chrissy forgave him, I could too. He seemed sincere in wanting her back. He told me he made a mistake. That he loved Chrissy. I could understand that. God forgives us our mistakes as long as we are sincere and don't repeat them. Then New Years Eve came and there sat Shayna crying and upset, Daddy didn't call like he said to ring in the New Year with her or Mitchell. Calling him netted no result. How do you fill a void someone else has left, made especially more hollow by a promise that wasn't kept? How do you ease that kind of hurt and pain in a small child.? You don't want to believe this man could hurt his child this way. Chrissy doesn't need to use the children in any way against Donny, he manages to do it all by himself. I don't know this man anymore.
He was a leopard who tried to change his spots and found out he couldn't. The drugs, beer, smoking, the high life and fun, were more important to him. Does he love his children? Maybe so, at his convenience. Drugs are powerful, money is powerful, but it doesn't solve your problems.
Chrissy wants to have a positive relationship with Donny for the sake of their children. It's not fair that she has to come up with excuses for Donny.
If Donny loses the love and respect of his children it will be his own doing.
He started by lying and cheating on his childrens mother. It's usually a down hill slide from there if he doesn't practice self-control.
Proverbs 25:28 tells us, "A person without self-control is as defenseless as a city with broken down walls."
and Titus 2:1 tells Christians."But as for you, promote the kind of living that reflects right teaching."
My understanding is we are to hold one another up before the Lord to build us up, not to tear us down. Anyone promoting another agenda is not fulfilling their Christian duties, but are making excuses whispered in their ear by Satan.
As regards to the other womans words about no one belonging to anyone else, we read in Scripture that God made the two,one, and no man was to tear them apart(or asunder). So we know her statement is a falsehood. The sacredness of matrimony is each person's laying down their free agency as a gift to the other with the promise to forsake ALL others no matter what, as a covenant between them and God and all witnesses. In this day and age their is no fear of God's retribution. However, God is the same today as yesterday as in the future. His WORD never changes.
These woman, at Donny's lies, have a part in tearing down their marriage. Trust and honesty have been destroyed, a very hard commodity to rebuild. As long as Donny continues to two-time all the women in his life, he will find it difficult to have a stable relationship of any kind. However, his male ego may be delighting in the fact that he's seems "hot" enough for all these woman to fuss over. Some like to call it mid-life crisis. Chrissy is not able to turn a blind eye to his goings on. As a responsible parent and teacher for the Lord Jesus in her childrens lives, she cannot let her ex-husbands corrupt lifestyle influence her children and harm their relationship with God. They can't not be left to think this behavior is commendable and it is her job to protect them from such abhorrence. Not an easy task by any means without the other side defending their decadent lifestyle. No matter what their problems, Chrissy never cheated on Donny and fully loved him.
Any boy can be a father (biologically) but it takes a real man to be a "DADDY".
